| In 1991, we started our first transitional housing program with 8 units available for families leaving the shelter. The idea was to give them more time and supportive services to enable them to save money and improve their earnings ability before having to support their families in a market-rate environment. |
| | In the period from 1994-2001 the organization undertook a major funding effort and acquired and remodeled more space, also built a 40-unit apartment community for families in transition. Today we have 70 transitional housing units that are all part of our 2 year intensive program geared to permanent self-sufficiency. | |
| | As the need for services to homeless women with children increases, we strive to meet that need by growing our services as well. |
| | In summer of 2006 we opened the Mohave Community, a residential program specifically for younger mothers who can benefit from a more structured environment and greater emphasis on education and training. During the course of their two years in the program, Mohave mothers will have the opportunity to achieve success in job retention; learn how to understand and manage their own finances; and most of all, gain confidence and self-esteem as they grow into economic self-sufficiency. |
