New Beginnings for Women and Children,

Upon moving here to the New Beginnings program, I was financially broke, in a huge amount of debt, and had no idea how to set or keep a goal. I had never kept a budget or even knew how to begin.

I have lived at La Promesa apartments for a year and a half, and in that time I have changed mine and my daughter’s life for the better. Through the help of my case manager, I learned right from the start how to make a budget and balance it with my daily expenses. I have also been able to set goals and really reach them—and sometimes exceed them. One of my biggest dreams /goals when I came here was to be closer to owning my own home, to get out of debt and have better credit, and be able to save money.

I am happy to say I am well on my way with all three of those goals. I have gone to financial counseling programs which have steered me in the right direction to own a home. I have paid off several old bills that were on my credit report, and have been able to put a little money away every pay day for my future.

I believe when it is time for me to move from here I will be financially able to survive. I will take with me the skills of budgeting, saving, and goal setting and continue to use them in my future. New Beginnings really has given me a new beginning to a successful future for me and my family.

Sincerely,
An NBWC resident
