| Since 1987, New Beginnings for Women & Children has been helping homeless women with children to become financially independent and able to sustain their families in stable housing. People who come to us have become homeless for any number of reasons. However, a factor for the great majority is domestic violence or some other form of abuse. |
| We provide Emergency Shelter (including food, clothing, personal care and transportation needs), and counseling and support services. Clients are helped to find jobs or obtain training needed to get work and create a plan for obtaining stable housing. | |
| | We also offer Transitional Housing for up to two years combined with case management and other supports. |
| | Aftercare Programs are available to clients leaving the Shelter and Apartments, helping them stay on the hard road to independence. | |
| | One of the most unique features of our services is the Children’s Program, which addresses the special developmental, social and academic needs of children who have lived the trauma of homelessness. |
| The road to self sufficiency is a challenging one. New Beginnings for Women & Children is a starting point, offering each woman who comes through our door the opportunity to map out a positive direction for herself and her children. Her progress to these goals is supported at every step with personalized case management, skills development, advocacy, and referral, along with other supportive services.
Two decades ago, NBWC was a small shelter serving just four families. Today we serve over 1,000 families a year. |
